Second Sunday of Lent
March 1st
Mt 17, 1-9
When we reduce ourselves to the self -to the character, to our historical form-, we can only read ourselves in a key of lack and, consequently, inhabit dissatisfaction.
However, if we listen to our inner voice, the Longing that speaks in silence shows us that, beyond this form, there is “something” in us that is irreducible and full.
It is not a belief. It is the result of self-inquiry, which is then verified by its fruits in our daily living. It is experienced that there is something in us that is invulnerable that, whatever happens, is always safe. And we perceive the truth of the saying: you are the sky, everything that happens are only clouds.
We do not deny or repress our limited, deficient, weak, and extremely vulnerable form. But it is embraced and lived from the fullness that we are and that sustains us at all times.
And it is precisely there that the miracle of *strength in weakness* occurs. By accepting one’s own vulnerability – in the thousand forms it may surprise us – by embracing it and reconciling ourselves with it, we experience the inner voice that repeats to us: “you are safe.” Our self may feel frustrated, broken, and torn by pain. But it is welcomed, embraced, and supported by “that” which we cannot adequately name, but which we can experience and live as we quiet the mind, lower mental resistances (defenses), and, consciously and lucidly, surrender to what is.
