The kingdom of god

Thanksgiving

Blessed be your holy name, God, our Father.

Blessed and praised be you by all humanity

You know, Lord, how we desire with all our hearts

that all human beings respect you and love you.

Our dream is that your Kingdom come to pass,

your project for humanity,

that none of us set ourselves up as superior

nor as oppressor of anyone,

that we treat one another as brothers and sisters

and all human beings be intimately happy.

But when we awaken from our dream,

we see a very different world

and it seems to us an almost impossible task to redirect it

to the pattern we have dreamed.

We have hope because we journey with you in the struggle.

You make the utopia possible. Thank you, Father.

Allow us to tell you that you are a good God, close, tender,

that it is our greatest pride to have a God like you.

In the name of all your children, our brothers scattered throughout the world,

we sing in your honor this hymn of glory.

Memorial of the Lord’s Supper

Thank you, Father, for having revealed yourself to us

through your son Jesus.

He has been our guide to discover you

and to know the truth.

Jesus has unveiled our goal to us:

to make you visible in the world,

to make love shine forth

in a universal brotherhood, without cracks,

to make you shine in your marvelous creation.

Thank you, Father, for the witness of your son Jesus,

who struggled throughout his life and until his death

to make your kingdom a reality.

He strove for you to reign among us,

but he never wanted to be served as a king

and he put himself at the service of the poorest,

He did not want to be first or powerful,

he did not seek the honors of this world,

it was enough for him to feel loved by a few,

because by giving himself to others,

he found you and he found himself

fully realized as a man.

Invocation of the Spirit of God

We want, holy Father, to proclaim before the world

the truth of Jesus,

his life and earthly death, his eternal and happy life in you.

His struggle against injustice and falsehood cost him blood.

Jesus was a crucified king, king by being the servant of all, a paradox of God.

Jesus does not impose himself on us either with promises or with threats,

Because Jesus, your son, we want to follow

voluntarily, as our leader,

because he and his word convince us,

because his truth sets us free.

And we want to be spokespersons of his gospel,

without palliatives or cuts.

The message of Jesus is the truth,

light of the world that we cannot hide.

Send your Spirit upon this community

that confesses itself in need of you.

Give us confidence, faith in ourselves,

so that we may not grow weary

and we strive to embody in our lives

the precepts of your Kingdom.

With Jesus, your son, herald of the truth,

to you, God, beloved Father, all honor and glory forever.

AMEN.
