I was born in Azpeitia (1952) in a poor farmhouse in Gipuzkoa, surrounded by mountains and overlooking the sea. I always felt one with the earth, the stones, the trees, and the birds, and in everything, I always felt the imprint of the Mystery. At the age of 15, I prematurely became a Franciscan, and I never wanted to stop being one, although at the age of 57, I had to leave the habit (and the cords that bound me) due to trivial matters like dogmas and heresies. I earned a doctorate in theology in Paris, and I began to see that it is necessary to unlearn everything to return to the simple wisdom of the beginning: the tenderness and the pain, the beauty and the compassion of the Mystery that animates everything, the nameless Mystery with all the names. I look at it and love it above all in Jesus of Nazareth, blessedness made flesh. And that is what I want to live.
