Thanksgiving
We want to be aware that we speak with you,
God and Lord ours, Father and Mother ours,
who create and continuously sustain all the universe.
We do not wish to fall back
into those old and mistaken images of You,
that make you distant, controlling, justiciar,
and also guilty of all the evils we suffer.
We confess the opposite very much: that you are a good God,
who loves us infinitely and everyone equally,
but that we need you
to eradicate the evils of this world.
We should not ask for miracles,
it is we who must solve
people’s problems.
Our soul rejoices in reciting this hymn of glory in your honor.
Memorial of the Lord’s Supper
Thank you, once again, Father,
for manifesting yourself in Jesus of Nazareth,
who passed through this world doing good.
It is your human incarnation,
therefore, by knowing him, we know You,
by following him, we join his struggle for Your Kingdom.
We assume the strong commitment to imitate him,
although we recognize that he has made it difficult for us.
Jesus liberated those who felt oppressed from bonds,
helped the most needy, healed the sick,
defended the cause of the poor staunchly
but lived with everyone, without discrimination,
understanding and valuing people’s hearts,
prioritizing the person over the norm and tradition.
Jesus did not shy away from threats
and continued forward with his mission.
Invocation to the Spirit of God
This is the good testimony of Jesus.
Send us your spirit, Father God,
that it moves us to live as he did.
We have filled this world with calamities,
our first duty is to open our eyes
and not look away.
Near and far, everywhere,
many brothers are going hungry.
We cannot be content, God and Father ours,
with praying to you every Sunday.
Move our souls to pity for the poor brothers
and make us help them from within. .
We have to provoke joy and sow hope,
solve the real problems of those who suffer injustices.
United with the great universal community
that desires and awaits a more just and solidary world,
with the hope of making it possible among all.
