Although we comment on it briefly, the Word always gives us some thought to enrich the heart.
The text narrates the surprise of the employees of that farmer who, having sown good seed, see how the weeds consume the field. And the most normal question springs from their lips: WHERE DOES THE WEED COME FROM? They find no other answer than to blame an enemy.
And although it seems like that is deflecting blame, the good thing is that they are right: he who sows evil is an enemy. Only such an enemy is not outside of oneself, but inside oneself. The weed, all weed, sprouts from one’s own heart, which is why one must watch it carefully.
In the depths of the human heart coexist an angel of goodness and a Cain. One must give space to the former and keep the latter in check so that it does not come out and cause havoc. History teaches us that both people and social and political systems, when they have been led astray by evil, have caused cosmic cataclysms.
That is why one must repeat with the truth of what is certain: you can sow goodness and evil, good seed and the worst weed. Let us sow goodness in the morning and in the afternoon because we do not know which of the two harvests will be the good one, perhaps both.
It is summer, a time for more relationship. Let us not sow weeds in the lives of others. Let us not spread rumors, lies, and defects about others. Let us be careful, respectful, and truthful. Let us not be enemies of those who are sowing the weed of slander around. Let us not take refuge in anonymity. And what has been said: let us sow good.
