He who sows
sows with hope,
even if the ground
is not the best
and has stones,
thorns,
stony places,
barren lands,
trodden paths
and birds in the sky lurking.
He who sows
sows with hope,
even if he is not owner
of time,
of rains,
of frosts,
of winds,
of droughts,
nor of the heat
that dries the ground.
He who sows
sows with hope,
even if he does not distinguish
the seed,
nor understands
the processes
of germination,
nor the miracles enclosed
in the seed
that he throws into the earth.
He who sows
sows with hope,
even if he only scatters
small seeds in the earth and in hearts,
seeds without pretense,
mustard seeds,
for he knows that the Lord
of the field and of the seed
trusts in him and in his task.
He who sows
sows with hope,
even if the seed is not his,
nor the ground,
nor is he master of time,
nor knows about climates;
although experience tells him
that there are harvests that fail
despite care
and pitchers of grace.
He who sows
lives hope,
dreams in parables,
proclaims good news,
rejoices in the season
and longs for the harvest;
but, sometimes, worries
keep him awake at night,
and nothing is solved
until he sleeps in your lap.
I will go out to sow
to continue your task
and so that you tell us stories
that flourish in grace!
