This portal aspires to be
a global aid for the Christian
who wants to update their faith.
In its texts, it shapes the thinking
of a renewed theology
aligned with the message of Jesus of Nazareth
and provides various tools
to live faith and spirituality
at an individual and community level.
Feadulta began on June 2, 2006. It was born with the aim of gathering the ideas of the new theology, to show those dissatisfied with the ecclesiastical and dogmatic system that perhaps they were not so wrong, that there was another way of thinking within the Church, supported by many committed theologians and by the Second Vatican Council itself. From the beginning, it wanted to honor its name: adult faith, to update faith.
A preliminary task was to prepare the compendium of three magnificent books by Luís Alemán, which we offered from the beginning under the name “A Return to Theology in 80 Topics.” In the early years, we had the valuable and continuous collaboration of Luís, until he decided to navigate from his own blog.
Pedro Olalde and Patxi Loidi provided the commentaries on the Gospels, which they later published in PPC. Fray Marcos began in the 2007/2008 Christmas season. A few months later, José Antonio Pagola joined, followed by Enrique Martínez Lozano and José Enrique Galarreta, who also added valuable commentaries to the first readings of each Sunday.
The different Eucharistic prayers have been a subject of special attention on the portal, seeking to contribute to the necessary liturgical renewal. José Enrique Galarreta and some other collaborators have proposed various prayers. For my part, I have been preparing over the years a series of anaphoras adapted to the different themes suggested by the Gospel passages. On the other hand, Florentino Ulibarri has been enriching each celebration with a modern prayer and litany. Much of this material has been integrated into the book “60 Eucharistic Encounters” and “Guide for Cycle B,” with the aim of serving in community celebrations.
Another important aspect of the portal is the various articles we include on different topics, although always in the same theological and social line. In this area, Luís Alemán, José Mª Castillo, Juan José Tamayo, and for some time now, regularly, José Arregi, Dolores Aleixandre, Eloy Roy, and many others whose profiles can be seen on the collaborators page have actively collaborated.
Soon, the accumulation of so many good articles overwhelmed us. And we began to open new sections, which are increasingly insufficient to classify them. We believe that the wealth of the documentation stored over these nine years is of maximum utility. With the advanced search engine, we can locate articles by combining search criteria such as topic, author, or date range.
This was the main reason for the format change that was made on the occasion of the 6th anniversary, migrating from Frontpage to Joomla with a more modern and dynamic format without neglecting the simplicity of the portal.
The weekly letters have been sent since the beginning of June 2007, just a year after its debut on the web. Gradually, the number of visits has been increasing.
In the past months of March and April, we have reached about 95,000 monthly visits, a little more than 3,160 daily visits. Approximately 44% of readers reside in Spain and the other 56% correspond to Hispanic American countries (including Hispanics in the USA) and the rest of the world, wherever Spanish missionaries and cooperators are found.
We are glad to know that we connect with the feelings of many Christians who have evolved and matured their faith.
